Mission & Purpose: To support the communities of Lancaster County, South Carolina, and the surrounding region. The foundation was established by the Springs and Close families (of the textile industry) to improve the quality of life for the residents who helped build their business.

Broad Funding Guidelines: Grantmaking is strictly limited to Lancaster, Chester, and York Counties in South Carolina. They are a place-based funder that supports Recreation, Education, Health, and Community Service. They provide both operating support and capital grants to organizations that are essential to the fabric of the local community. They have two annual grant deadlines (spring and fall).

Featured Opportunity: Their deep commitment to "Outdoor Recreation" is unique. They manage the "Anne Springs Close Greenway" and actively fund nonprofit organizations that create trails, parks, and outdoor access.
