Mission & Purpose: To fulfill the legacy of J. Torben Karlshoej (founder of Teekay Shipping) by enabling disadvantaged youth to succeed and promoting maritime education and safety.

Broad Funding Guidelines: This is an international foundation (based in the Bahamas) that funds in the U.S. and globally. They do not accept unsolicited proposals. Instead, they operate through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Their two main pillars are Maritime (education, safety, heritage) and Youth Development (focusing on disadvantaged youth).

Featured Opportunity: Their Maritime Youth Development programs are a unique niche. They actively seek partners who run programs that use the maritime world (such as sailing, boat building, or maritime studies) as a tool to help at-risk or disadvantaged youth develop life skills, discipline, and career pathways.
