Here are today’s daily 3 foundations. FM Area Foundation, Foundation for the Mid South, and Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust.

FM Area Foundation

Website: https://areafoundation.org/

Mission & Purpose: To create a community where everyone thrives. As a community foundation, it manages charitable funds for individuals and businesses and distributes grants to address local needs.

Broad Funding Guidelines: Grantmaking is geographically focused on Cass County, North Dakota, and Clay County, Minnesota (the Fargo-Moorhead metro area). They have one main competitive grant cycle per year. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, or government entities. Their funding is organized into five primary areas: Arts, Culture, & Creativity, Basic Human Needs, Community Building, Education, and the Women's Fund.

Featured Opportunity: The foundation's Women's Fund is a key initiative that specifically supports projects that empower women and children. This fund provides targeted grants for organizations that help women and girls achieve economic, social, and political equality, building leadership skills and confidence.

Foundation for the Mid South

Website: https://fndmidsouth.org/

Mission & Purpose: To improve lives and grow local economies in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The foundation works to address persistent poverty and systemic inequities by investing in education, health, and wealth-building opportunities.

Broad Funding Guidelines: Grantmaking is limited to the three-state region of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This foundation is a proactive grantmaker; it does not have an open application process. Instead, program staff identify potential partners and invite proposals that align with their strategic priorities: Educational Opportunities (improving graduation rates), Healthy Opportunities (access to care, mental health), and Economic Opportunities (workforce development).

Featured Opportunity: A major partnership for the foundation is the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) initiative. Partnering with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, they support and convene community-based efforts to address systemic racism, change public narratives, and promote racial healing as a cornerstone of achieving economic and social equity in the Mid-South.

Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust

Website: https://kbr.org/

Mission & Purpose: To work for equitable access to quality health care, education, and economic opportunity for every resident of North Carolina. The Trust is dedicated to achieving long-term, sustainable outcomes to support thriving communities.

Broad Funding Guidelines: Grantmaking is focused exclusively on North Carolina. The Trust's funding is divided into two main areas: Health Improvement in North Carolina (statewide) and Local Impact in Forsyth County (their home county). They actively fund systems-change work, including advocacy, research, and capacity-building for organizations led by communities of color. They have an open inquiry process for aligned projects.

Featured Opportunity: A signature program is Healthy Places NC. This is a long-term, place-based initiative focused on improving health in the state's rural, under-resourced communities. Rather than funding one-off projects, the Trust partners deeply with local leaders in these communities, investing significant resources over many years to address the root causes of poor health, from food systems to economic opportunity.
