The J. Paul Getty Trust (The Getty Foundation)

Mission & Purpose: The grantmaking arm of the J. Paul Getty Trust, the Getty Foundation supports individuals and institutions committed to advancing the understanding and preservation of the visual arts locally and throughout the world.
Broad Funding Guidelines: The majority of its funding is through strategic initiatives that target a particular issue or region. They do not have a general, open application process for grants.
The Brown Foundation, Inc.

Mission & Purpose: To distribute funds for public charitable purposes, with a primary focus on public education at the primary and secondary levels. They also support the arts and community service.
Broad Funding Guidelines: The foundation primarily makes grants in Houston and the surrounding areas. The first step in their application process is to submit a pre-application form, which is reviewed in four annual cycles. Unsolicited applications from beyond the greater Houston area are rarely approved.
Donald W. Reynolds Foundation

Mission & Purpose: The foundation has four main areas of interest: meeting community needs in Arkansas, Nevada, and Oklahoma; accelerating research on cardiovascular disease; improving the quality of life for the elderly through better physician training; and enhancing the quality of journalism.
Broad Funding Guidelines: Most of the foundation's programs are by invitation only, and unsolicited proposals are rarely approved.
